SAM JAMIESON BHSAI INT S.M, EETT Level Three

Sam riding Ben, one of our school horses in 2008.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Sam Jamieson the owner of Meadowbrook Stables. I have been involved with horses since I was 4 years old and although currently in my 30's and a Mum, my passion for horses continues. Throughout my career I have been fortunate to work with and for some well known names in the equestrian industry gaining a vast experience in many disciplines both in the US and UK.

I am very open minded and learn such a lot from each and every horse that crosses my path. I have been very lucky that I have ridden/worked with many different types of breeds of horses and ponies from donkeys to riding school and leisure horses to competition horses. I continue my studies whenever possible and to see someone or a horse/pony succeed that I have helped I find extremely rewarding making it all worthwhile.

At 12 years old I devised my own join up technique with my first pony who enjoyed displaying his own ideas of capriole, rearing, napping, etc and was extremely difficult to load, I perservered and was rewarded in the end with a changed pony that would play chase, rear only on command, would lie down with me and among other things helped with bad loaders, I hold him in very high regard as one of my very important teachers and since then I have always been interested in so-called problem horses.

My career with horses began in 1989 at college studying Horse Management, following this I trained with Tina Layton at Contessa Riding Centre which was my first real insight to classical riding with many a chance to watch Tina training up to high school level with Arthur Kottas. It was full steam ahead with teaching, I soon gained my ABRS Assistant Grooms Diploma and BHSAI.

Later working for Jill Day I got the chance to ride horses from novice up to grand prix level at home and at the same time helped at another yard with mounted security horses and had my first experiences of learning side saddle. I moved onto West Kington Stud as Head Girl for Jane Holderness Roddam and Stud Assistant for Tessa Clark. Gaining a vast amount of experience with competition horses, mares, foals and other youngstock out on 500 acres of grass and farmland in my care, looking after the resident stallion Meadowbrook and gained my BHS Intermediate Stable Manager qualification.

Here are some of the people I have gained training from via lessons and clinics:
Marcia Wakeman, Rodrigo Da Costa Matos, Bruno Rodrigues, Turville Valley Stud, Heather Moffett, Jane Holderness Roddam, Darrell Scaife, Jill Day, Lornie Forbes and Tina Layton.

My real determination is to help you to improve and further your skills rather than a typical trot round to the back of the ride, heels down shoulders back scenario. Every rider is different and with simple explanations, tuition including covering biomechanics of horse and rider, on well trained horses and of course fun this allows you to improve your riding. We are one of the few that also gives lunge lessons.

We regularly train our horses each week to give you the most benefit, keeping their training consistent as any horse if not schooled regularly in this way can fall back in their training and become less responsive. We can quietly boast that our horses are trained up to BHS Stage 4 level/Elementary so you are not limited to a low level at all and have the chance to learn even more. We have a selection of the following breeds of horses: Irish draught x Thoroughbred, Cob, Gelderlander, Warmblood x and haflinger which not only allows you to ride and handle different horses but different breeds aswell.

We have trained all our horses to work to an advanced level on the Lunge and Long Lining and we are one of a few in the UK that train their horses in Lateral Work In Hand which further helps you as a rider on the ground and riding aswell as the horse, we use Clicker Training, other Groundwork and train with Working Equitation obstacles. These of course are all available for you to learn so not only do we teach flatwork and jumping but a lot more too giving you endless skills, we even offer dismounted workshops including horse simulation.

I train at Advanced level, am a Level 3 Accredited Instructor for Heather Moffett, studying a BTEC Professional Diploma in Equine Therapy and Rehabilitiation and a Certificate in Sports Psychology am an Equine Touch student, Reiki Level 1 and I train and compete in the European sport, Working Equitation aswell as other disciplines..

SARAH TOWERS Head Girl

Sarah started with us in 2006 and is a very valuable member of the team and very much part of the family, she overseas the day to day running of the yard, ensuring all the horses are happy, the yard is kept to a high standard, schools the horses and teaches.

Sarah has been riding for many years and before coming to us attended the Lincolnshire School of Agriculture studying a First Diploma in Horse Care of which she gained a merit, since being here she has greatly extending her knowledge and gained her BHS Stage 1, I remember her saying that in the first two weeks she had been here she had learnt more than she had in the last 10 years and this ever increasing knowledge is transferred to you through her teaching.

Sarah has her own horse Bas who when she first took him on was extremely switched off to school work, he has now improved immensely and is working towards elementary level, Sarah has taken Bas out competing and brought home 2nd and 3rd place rossettes, been on sponsored rides and jumping xcountry.

Sarah is very popular with all the children and is especially a hit with our Daughter Emily. Sarah teaches various abilities from beginner to the more experienced rider.
