Updated January 2010.

We're very lucky to have a qualified Enlightened Equitation Instructor in our region. Sam has helped us begin to tackle positional faults that have gone uncorrected for years. She has taught us EE techniques for giving leg aids and sitting to the trot, and her teaching has built our confidence and enabled us to try things that we would not have wanted to try in our previous group lessons. Sam is very sympathetic and knowledgable, a rare combination in our experience, and her yard is well equipped and the staff are friendly and supportive. We recommend Sam's yard to any riders in East Anglia who are looking for a change from the ineffective teaching techniques of traditional riding schools.

David Rainford & Jane Bishop

I have now been riding at Meadowbrook Stables for just over 2 years and my teenage daughter has been riding here for just over a year. In this time, Sam's patience, support and encouragement has enabled my daughter to make the progress and gain the confidence that she failed to do with any of her previous instructors.

During many years of riding and at many different riding schools, I can honestly say that Meadowbrook is the best and friendliest that I've been to. Previously I found riding schools reluctant to cater for adults who wanted private lessons, as they viewed this as not being cost effective; whereas private or semi-private lessons is precisely what Meadowbrook provides.

I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with Sam and have benefitted from riding a variety of very well schooled horses. Sam has enabled me to learn more and make progress with my riding despite me being a more 'mature' rider.
She is the first instructor I've had who has focused in detail on my position and helped me to improve this despite having acquired bad habits over the years. Sam adopts a sympathetic approach to both horse and rider and never fails to offer praise to both. She is an active interested instructor who patiently explains and demonstrates what is being taught. She willingly shares her knowledge and experience and her enthusiasm for what she does is infectious.

I look forward to continuing to learn, improve and increase my understanding of horses and feel very lucky to have found such an excellent riding school and instructor."

Anna

I have been riding for 17 years and been a qualified Instructor for the last 6 years, but can honestly say my riding has improved no end since starting lessons at Meadowbrook. I studied riding at college for 3 years having between two to three lessons a week for two hours a time on different horses, and yet only since being taught by Sam have I started to appreciate how we influence the horses so much, and by only having to do very little.

My lessons with Sam are fun and informative, she really takes the time to explain things-finding a way that u will understand. I have lessons both on Sams horses and I also bring my own back, Sam done a months training with my youngster and I couldn't ask for a better horse, she enjoys her work and I like to keep bringing her back for us to progress together.

I look forward to my lessons everytime I book one, and I really get a sense of achievement when I dismount at the end. Thanks to Sam and the team for making me want to come back time and time again.
Laura.

I met Sam via her fantastic website. It came over to me as a very honest truthful website with the sort of information I wanted to read, so I made the phone call and spoke to Sam. My feelings about the site were confirmed by our converstation, so I made a booking.

Sams yard has a great feeling with it, which i actually find very rare, I immediately felt at ease and was proud to be part of it, and look forward to each time I am there. Sams staff are equally as kind, accomodating and welcoming, and I always look forward to meeting them too.

The lessons are informative, precise, and structured and also welcoming, rewarding and leave you wanting to go back for more. I have watched Sam teach and do groundwork with her horses, as well as giving me lessons. She is a concientious and caring teacher, and gets the best out of the horse and rider at any given time, and she does this without putting horse rider or herself under unneccessary pressure. There is always a clear understanding and good line of communication for all.

I wish I lived a lot closer to Sam and her yard, then I could spend more time developing my understanding for horses and their training both in the saddle and on the ground.

Since I met Sam, I have watched her business develop and grow into something special; a School of Excellence, for her clients and horses to develop and grow into something more special than they are already.

Dear Sam,

The first time I came to Meadowbrook was a one off lesson just after christmas last year. I was so impressed by you, your staff and your horses that when I decided to begin lessons regularly again there was no other place I wanted to go to. I have now been riding at Meadowbrook for a couple of months, and love every minute of my lessons.

Sarah is a brilliant instructor and a credit to the yard. She is very kind and welcoming, and very patient and constructive when she teaches. She doesn't mind going over things a couple of times if you don't pick it up straight away! I came to Meadowbrook with a knocked confidence after a fall, and as soon as I started my first lesson Sarah put me at ease.

It is brilliant to be able to work on some basic stuff that makes such a difference to general riding but also get to attempt some school movements such as shoulder in and leg yield. Even though I haven't been riding at Meadowbrook very long, I feel like I've learnt so much already.

Also, huge credit goes to the beautiful horses you have in the riding school. I have been fortunate to ride Ben, Stanlee, Bas and Archie, and they are all lovely well schooled horses. They give you the opportunity to learn so much when combined with a good instructor!!

Many thanks to you, Sarah and all the horses for putting the enjoyment back into riding for me (and it must be worth it as I drive about 20miles to get to you for my saturday lesson!!)

When I first met Sam, she was teaching a friend of mine, on her own horse. She like me had had an accident and had confidence issues. Although she had a fantastic bond with her horse, her mare is very sensitive and they were struggling to gel where ridden work was concerned. I was really impressed with how patient and understanding Sam was with my friend and her horse.

Sam is very clever at gently encouraging you to do things that you wouldn't dare do, or even think you were capable of doing, without you even realising! She could read the horse and give my friend tips on what to do to distract her from any naughty habits... before she could actually do them! Since that first meeting my friend and her horse have reached an even greater understanding and are progressing really well.

Another of my friends has also regained her confidence in riding since starting again after a long break. This was also down to Sam's expertise and patience. Sam also took her horse in for schooling because she was being naughty when ridden and was also very bolshy around people. She came back a different horse and is now a real pleasure to handle.

All of this gave me 'the bug' to start again after a bad accident and a long break. To cut a long story short, Sam gave me a lesson on a horse that I was interested in buying. I thoroughly enjoyed my lesson and although I hadn't cantered for 'fourteen years'....after telling myself  'I AM THE BEST RIDER'...I was soon cantering twenty metre circles! I went home having grown a couple of feet taller, bought the gorgeous horse and haven't looked back!

So Sam, I'd just like to say a big thankyou for giving me back my passion for riding..... Oh and...... I AM THE BEST RIDER!

My daughter Beth has been riding for 9 years. Mostly at riding schools, riding holidays, and private instructors covering everything from dressage, showjumping and eventing. Beth had been taught / re-taught so many times by different riding schools, which had confliting methods / approaches to riding.

We started to look for someone to bring together the skills Beth had and to fill the gap beyond the "riding schools" towards professionalism. We found Sam, I must admit I thought long and hard before I phoned thinking is Beth going to be "advanced enough" to cope with lessons. After phoning Sam we immediately relaxed as she was the most enthusiastic, understanding person I had talked to. We booked Beth in for her first lesson (being warned that it would be a lunge lesson) and assessment of her riding skills.

At last Beth had found someone who could explain in great depth the links between the horse and rider, and how Beths movements affects the horse.
At every lesson Beth has learnt and understood the reasons why, which many instructors could'nt explain to her. Yes, Beth has had to re-learn and improve on some of her skills, but just watching from the side lines she is now learning so much from every lesson.Sams lessons are always fun and informative, she always gives you 110% and expects the same from you.
Sam and her instructors are very easy to approach and talk to I only wish we had found Meadowbrook years ago.

Debbie Wilkinson

I started having lessons with Sam in 2007 as I needed to brush up my riding in preparation for my BHS Stage 2 exam. I decided on Meadowbrook as it seemed to stand out from all the other riding schools in the area. My initial plans were to have lessons until I had passed my exam, however I really enjoyed my lessons and I was actually learning more than I thought I would.

I am still having regular lessons now and enjoy the more rider focused approach that Sam uses. Through coming to Meadowbrook Stables I have increased my knowledge about how the riders position affects the horse, how to feel the horses movement, and a kinder way of riding. I have been able to use what I have learnt when teaching my own pupils.

Sam is always accomodating in any requests I have made about what I want to learn. I have improved my jumping, lateral work, lungeing and theory based work for the BHS PTT exam. Sam has also helped me to continue riding through injury, and a major loss of confidence. When I returned to riding after a bad accident I knew that Sam would be able to help me get back on a horse. She was very understanding and let me go at my own pace.

I hope to continue training with Sam for many years to come, both to improve my riding and in preparation for exams.

Kate Vickers

Booking my first lesson at Meadowbrook was a bit of a leap of faith. For years, I had been having lessons on my own horses, and prior to that, my experiences of riding schools were ‘mixed’ to say the least.

However, before I even left the comfort of my own home, I had a lengthy telephone call with Sam. This allowed me to explain that I had just come back to riding after having my first child a few months previously, as well as having had my confidence completely destroyed by a riding accident at home. Sam listened to this with empathy and understanding, explaining that both were issues that she had had to face herself. We also had a long chat about my level of riding experience, and what I wanted to achieve from my lessons.

This phone call made a lasting impression upon me. Sam really took the trouble to get to know me as a client, and have some idea of how to tailor my lessons, before I had even booked one!

Having ridden for twenty five years or so, I have inevitably picked up some bad habits along the way. Sam has an uncanny (and slightly scary) knack of being able to tell what you are doing with your body, even on the side of the horse that she can’t see. Sam is able to point out faults tactfully and with humour, explaining why things are not so good, and give you simple, step by step advice to help you correct your riding, in a supportive and encouraging way.

Every step of the way, I have felt that Sam has been an immensely knowledgeable, yet kind and considerate instructor, who wants her clients not just to improve their riding, but importantly to enjoy themselves while they are doing it! Sam is both incredibly encouraging, yet exacting in her standards.

Having enjoyed my ridden lessons so much, I was also inspired to ask Sam to help me fulfill my dream of being able to work my horses ‘in hand’. Sam taught me that this is an accessible form of training, that anyone can learn, and not some mysterious art that only the chosen few can grasp. Thanks to Sam, I now have an added dimension to the work that I can do with my own horses. I have also had lungeing lessons with Sam, and fully intend to attend her sessions on longlining and free-schooling. I am also looking forward to the time when my son is old enough to start having lessons there as well!

From the moment you walk on to the yard, it is clear that Meadowbrook Stables is an establishment that is run with professionalism and attention to detail. All the horses are immaculately kept, and clearly content. The atmosphere is calm, and all the staff welcoming and friendly.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Meadowbrook Stables to anyone who wants to have enjoyable, informative lessons, with instructors who have a genuine interest in helping their students make real progress with their riding.

Ashleigh Lawrence

I cannot rate Sam and her team at Meadowbrook Stables highly enough. The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere immediately puts you at your ease and every effort is made to ensure you achieve your goals whilst enjoying the experience.

As the owner of a 16hh, 9 year old ID x TB “problem” horse, I contacted Sam with a view to her having Coco for a few weeks to work on and hopefully iron out some of her hang ups. This was never going to be an easy task but Sam willingly accepted the challenge.

Coco was at Meadowbrook for 3 months and during that time was and given every opportunity to progress and work through her issues at her own pace. Sam noticed some stiffness and on her advice she was checked by an equine specialist and areas of concern were located and worked on. Never was my mare asked to do more than she was capable of and when Sam felt Coco had reached her potential she said so.

When Coco came home she was vastly improved and for the first time I was able to lunge her in the field without incident, a major milestone for a mare that 3 months earlier viewed a lunging session as an excuse to perform her version of the wall of death for 20 minutes!

At this point the attention was turned to my riding skills – or lack of them! Sam took me back to basics and worked on everything from improving my seat and leg position to giving the clear aids at the right time. My confidence had been severely knocked by Coco’s antics but Sam patiently worked with me to restore it through knowledge and encouragement.

The care, attention and instruction Coco and I received was exemplary and I recommend Sam and her team to anyone who wants to improve their riding and / or build a better relationship with their horse.

Hi Sam,
Just wanted to say thank you so much for everything you’ve taught me. I thought I could ride before I came to you, but now I’m so much more aware of my position and how much the slightest alteration can influence the horse – still trying to use this to my advantage rather than the other way round! I have to say that I find it quite amazing that you see so much – you even see things that I am not aware I’m doing which gives me a lot to think about and to try to improve on.

I think the biggest thing for me is that I have been able to take what I’ve learnt and practise on my own horse who has come on leaps and bounds. We are now riding in an outline (sometimes!) and bending properly! We are doing little bits of leg yielding and she seems a lot happier that I am now taking some of the responsibility rather than just sitting there and hoping we get it right!

My long-term aim is to be able to complete a dressage test and achieve decent marks. I am sure that one day, with you and your beautifully well-trained horses who also teach me a lot, I will be able to do this.

Many thanks Sam and Archie!

Zoe Cummings

I have been having Enlightened Equitation lessons with Sam Jamieson at Meadowbrook Stables for almost 2 years and I feel that my horse Breeze and I have made huge progress during this time.

I have been riding for many, many years but was taught the old-fashioned way. This was fine as I was fortunate enough to have ridden well-schooled horses in the past but things changed when I became the owner of Breeze, a young horse spoilt by a heavy-handed and inexperienced rider. It soon became obvious that we needed help and it has been a huge learning curve for both of us.

Breeze's progress has been marvellous - she has changed from an awkward, unbalanced 'thug' into a safe, well-mannered hack and she really loves her 'holidays' with Sam. I also feel my confidence has returned after some very dangerous experiences with another horse.

Sam gives a wonderful service and I am looking forward to the lessons and groundwork classes that have been planned for this year. I thoroughly recommend Sam and her staff - we are very fortunate to have people of such a high calibre in our area.

Best wishes
Jacquie Smedley

After going to & trying many different riding schools I now know that I have found the right one at Meadowbrook stables. I have had such a warm & friendly welcome & made to feel at ease, by Samantha Jameison & all her staff.

I have only had about 4 lessons so far with Samantha herself and wow what a difference. I have learnt more here in these lessons then I ever did anywhere else. I now know that I am being taught the correct way to ride.

Samantha is a lovely person who explains everything to you step by step in a way that you can understand from our point & a horses point. She has lots of good knowledge & knows exactly what she's talking about.

All her horses are wonderful & so well kept. The stables & yard are also up to a high standard with excellent organization.

I'm sure that I am going to enjoy learning & improving my skills here for a long time to come. I would highly recommend these stables to anyone who wants to be taught the correct way!

HAPPY RIDING!

Jane Robson

I can highly recommend Meadowbrook Stables for riding lessons. Sam is a very encouraging and patient teacher, who gives great confidence to those who are lacking.

The teaching is of the highest quality, my seat has improved considerably and I actually understand the reasons why I should be doing things now. I have been to many riding schools but Meadowbrook is the only stables I have visited where the ethics and welfare of the horses are the number one priority.

Hi Sam,

I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for all the help you have given to me and my horse Honey.

As you know I had serious confidence issues and I had been to several other riding schools for help without success. I was at a point with my riding where I was beginning to think I may give up. When I came to you I was so nervous and I didn't know what to expect. You were completely sympathetic and understanding, taking things at a pace I could cope with. Gradually you built up my confidence and it wasn't long before I was enjoying riding again. I feel I have learnt so much since coming for lessons with you, about both my riding and my relationship with my horse.

I then began to have problems with my horse Honey who would frequently drag me around, barge into my space, mug me for food and she was also displaying unwanted behaviour when being ridden too. I no longer felt I could cope with Honey when she came to you for schooling. During the time she spent with you she became a different horse. She is now well mannered, she has progressed well in her education and is now enjoyable to ride. I can't tell you how many people have commented on the change in Honey since she came to you.

I can't thank you enough Sam, you really have made riding a pleasure again.

Regards,

Sharon Patrick

Hi Sam

I’d just like to thank you for all the help you’ve given me over the past few months. When I first started riding at Meadowbrook you asked if I wanted to be a passenger or really wanted to learn to ride. Since then I’ve learnt so much and hope that I’m now much less of a passenger!

Despite all my excuses you’ve always been patient and understanding. I’ve laughed while I’ve learnt and enjoyed every lesson. Your professional approach is second to none.

Please could you enter this on your testimonials page as I cannot recommend Meadowbrook stables enough to anyone else interested in riding.

Thanks again, Ang

I (Lyndsay) have been riding at Meadowbrook stables now for over 2 years. I first went to see Sam hoping she could help me with my confidence, which had hit an all time low as I owned a naughty horse and was getting nothing from the lessons I was having at another riding school.

Sam has been fantastic, I am now at the point that I have put my mare into foal! Sam helped me with my naughty horse, who turned out to be unsuitable! After building my confidence and realising that he wasn't the horse for me, I sold him, none of which I could of done alone, as I was so convinced I was doing something wrong.

I also fulfilled one of my major goals which was a sponsored ride at Burghley of all places! - with Sam at my side! I will never forget the adrenaline I got from that, I have since done other xc rides! I have also been to the beach with Sam - another experience never to be forgot!

I would recommend Meadowbrook to everyone! The calming atmosphere there is great and the advice endless and extremely helpful. The best thing for me has been the confidence that I have been given.

Hi Sam

Firstly, I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying my lessons I'm having at your stables - I really am learning so much more than I had been doing at other stables, and hopefully in the future would like to join some of the courses you offer.

Also, Could you tell me what age group of children you generally teach? My niece, who is 5, is coming to stay with me next week, and I've promised her I will pay for her to have a riding lesson.

Thanks

To Whom it may concern,

I worked at Meadowbrook Stables under Samantha Jamieson as a working student from 19th October 08 until 23rd July 09. The yard has a relaxed and friendly yet professional atmosphere that makes you feel welcome and at ease whatever you are there for. The horses are treated as individuals with the respect and love they deserve which they in turn put in to their work. They are all really well mannered and friendly and an absolute pleasure to work with.

The staff and helpers are absolute stars with a fab sense of humour! Everyone tried really hard and succeeded in making me feel welcome when I started which was important as I was moving away from home and they all became my family, or I became part of theirs. New and potential clients are made really welcome too and feel they can ask any questions they might have regarding anything that might cross their mind.

People who lack confidence or have the odd ‘I can’t do it!’ moment (like myself) are given the encouragement and confidence they need to continue through choice words and taking things at the clients pace. Whether the client is having a ridden lesson for the first time or are regulars to the yard, learning ridden, inhand, lunging or stable management, everything is explained step by step in a way each individual will understand. Absolutely fantastic if you genuinely want to learn or find out if riding is what you want to do. At the end of each lesson it is ensured by the instructor that it ends on a positive note and that any questions or worries are answered and addressed.

The horses are kept well groomed, up to near competition standard for lessons. The yard and everything on it is kept as tidy as possible with jobs being done as they come up to ensure the high standards are kept up. Equipment well cleaned at least once a week maintaining the high standard. The school horses standards are maintained throughout the week through being worked by Sam and staff.

I totally recommend Meadowbrook for anyone starting out with horses, wanting to fine tune skills you already have, or wanting to learn something new. The standards are excellent in all ways and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back for lessons whenever I get the chance. I’ve learnt so much at the yard and made some friends for life.

Out of all the riding schools and other yards I have worked at, visited and had lessons, Meadowbrook Stables outstrips them all by miles in every aspect. It was an absolute pleasure working there.

Hi Sam,

Sorry i haven't been in touch sooner, been very busy with tana trying to maintain all the fantastic work you done with her in the month that she came to you. She settled into your yard almost instantly and I knew that she would learn a lot from you because she seemed so relaxed, and i think that she has really enjoyed the work you put in, it has given her something to think about and focus on. She is doing so well at home and I cant wait until she's able to come back to your yard to finish her schooling.

I would also like to say a big thankyou for being very patient with me on my lessons, having ridden for so many years myself i have developed some bad habits, and you have a lot of patience with me and understand how difficult it is to 'un-train' your body from what it knows and get it to work correctly!! I cant wait until it all clicks into place and I can one day bring tana with me to lessons so we can continue our training together with you making sure we don't get any new bad habits!!

Since starting my lessons with you, my older horse at home has really noticed the improvement, and accompanied by his new treeless saddle is a much happier laid back chap, much more willing to work with me and i cant wait to try and improve on my dressage scores next year with him.

I couldn't recommend you more for the way you train both horses and riders. You take the time to explain things and make sure that people understand, and your wonderful schoolmasters are brilliant teachers in their own right (even if they do grass me up to you EVERY time i do the slightest thing wrong!!) my lessons are fun and informative, and also the way in which you explain how the horse moves in relation to how you use your aids correctly has really helped me progress in my equine massage course, understanding the feel and the movement from on top of a horse has helped make it clearer how much we put our horses through, and made me appreciate these wonderfully patient animals even more than I already did.

Thankyou again, and I look forward to my next lesson.

laura.

Hi Sam

Gypsy has settled in so well, she is a star, had some brilliant hacks on her, she is lovely. Thank you so much, she is a credit to you. Will keep you updated.

Thanks again.

Ginny

Meadowbrook was recommended to me as I had lost my nerve to ride. When I emailed Sam and explained why I had lost my nerve, she was very helpful, friendly and reassuring. My lessons have built my confidence and I feel more relaxed about riding each lesson I have. I am currently riding at Meadowbrook and have found my time with Sam has made me start to enjoy my riding again. I would recommend Meadowbrook to anyone looking to either start riding or improve their confidence and knowledge.

Thanks Sam!

(Kat)

Wow what a great lesson!

Sam really set me at ease as I have a tendency to get very tense when being taught. Within minutes I had relaxed and felt very comfortable.

Beach and I started off in trot and Sam helped me get a nice active working trot just by altering a few things. I was confusing impulsion with speed, so Sam explained to how slightly slow the trot. This was simply done by holding with my core muscles and asking for more energy.... it was a light bulb moment..... he became lighter and really felt good.

We then went on to work on our canter. Beach has a tendency to lean on me in canter so Sam worked on getting me to stay toned (not tense) through my core muscles and not allow him to try and pull me forward. I had to gently take with the rein (very small finger movement) and then immediately drop the contact so that as he leant on me he suddenly found my hand was not there.... It really worked by the end of about 5/10 mins Beach was holding himself and he had lifted up in front on me and I could feel him stepping underneath a lot better. It was like Beach had said "well I can not rely on you Mother to hold me up so I will have to do it myself " which is exactly what we wanted.

I also worked on my canter lead left which I have a tendency to cause Beach to strike off on the right when asking for the left. Sam noticed that as I asked for the canter I pushed my right hip forward slightly. So next time I asked I slipped my left hip very, very slight forward instead (which felt weird at first) and Beach struck off on the left lead. I knew it was me, I just couldn't feel what I was doing wrong.

I am really looking forward to going back for more lessons and even if I can not get transport to take Beach over, I will have a lesson on one of Sam's lovely horses.

I have so much I can now work on in the mean time .... Beach's hacks will never be the same again but everything I learnt are things that I can work on on my own. Sam is great at explaining exactly what is happening and how to rectify the problems. I can not recommend Sam highly enough and I can't wait till I go again!

Sam and Beach

(Cambridge)

Ps. Beach is is also now ridden in the Fhoenix saddle, you can see from the photos below how he has built up his muscle since being ridden in it!

As soon as I viewed Meadowbrook Stables I knew that the facilities exceeded any other yards I had viewed. Sam and Ash were warm and welcoming but still maintained a professional approach to the management of the yard and it's clients. They are always on hand with any help or advice you may need and pride themselves on keeping the stables and paddocks to a high standard.

Eddie has settled in very well and I am very glad that I made the decision to stable him here. I also feel very confident with the security of the site and know that Eddie is well looked after.

I would highly recommend Meadowbrook Stables

Re: Meadowbrook Stables

My name is Tasha I stable both my horse (Brydie) and pony (Thistle) at Meadowbrook. When I first moved Brydie she was recovering from muscular/skeletal problems through being attacked by a dog and a few months before that she had just recovered from a blown check ligament. I found moving to the yard helped in her recovery as the facilities are excellent and the rubber matting is better for her legs.

I have recently bought Thistle and straight away decided Meadowbrook is where I wanted her to go. She settled in very quickly and was content from the word go. She loves the sand school and I cant wait to get the jumps out and pop her over them.

The yard is very friendly and we all have a laugh. Its good to know that if you have a problem you have got Sam about to give you advice. I have piece of mind when I leave them both as I know they are safe and happy especially as Sam and Ash live on site.

Sam is one of our Enlightened Equitation teacher students, and already has an impressive CV of wide ranging experience in many fields of equestrianism. Her integrity, enthusiasm, and dedication to the care of horses is without question, and I could not recommend her more highly- I would not hesitate to leave my horses in her care.

Subject: Looking for a horse
Hi

I have been watching your website every week for the last couple of months and love the way you portray your horses. It is comforting to know that you really take the trouble to get to know them so the customer has a fairly good idea of their character.

I am looking to buy a horse around January time and I am fairly confident that I would rather buy one from you.

Regards

Bridget Camp

Sam, thanks for the message you have left on my phone. I have had a quick look at the website and will keep checking every so often to see what you have.

You are some distance from me, although I do not mind travelling if I can see a photo of the horse first. I have found with many dealers that although elaborate claims are made about the horses suitability and reliability in traffic etc, when pressed, it often turns out that they have only known the horse for 5 minutes, and cannot possibly know how it would react in various situations.

It is obvious from your descriptions that you take the time to get to know the horses you are selling, and this is important to me.

Thanks again for taking the time to ring me back and I will be in touch if I see that you have anything suitable.

Regards
Debbie

To Whom it may concern

I have known Sam Jamieson for approximately eleven years, after meeting her whilst training. Her equine career has gone from strength to strength over these years and she is a very knowledgeable Instructor/Rider. She has vast experience behind her that not many can boast of. Samantha has worked in various yards over the years and has handled and ridden very valueable horses of varying ages. She is sympathetic to the horses needs in every way, and when she has come across difficult or nervous horses she has always had a good response from them. including my own horse.

Yours sincerely

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have known Samantha Freeman for ten years in both a personal and business capacity. Within this period Samantha has worked and trained with and alongside many of the best and most influential and well-respected people in the equestrian field.

I had the opportunity to work with Samantha at the yard/residence of Jane and Tim Holderness - Roddam. During this time Samantha worked in the position as Head Girl, which involved looking after and taking responsibility of numerous competition horses of all standards including international. It goes without saying that this type of work is extremely demanding and takes a very committed, dedicated and enthusiastic individual who takes an enormous amount of pride in their work and needless to say loves horses.

During the years in which Samantha has continued her passion, commitment and eagerness for horses and equestrian life, she has had to endure various difficult situations. I can honestly say that Samantha is and has always been a very level - headed individual in her approach and actions and although having extensive knowledge and understanding she has always dealt with situations in a very professional and responsible manner, without undue hesitation and causing harm or danger to animal or person in any degree.

Yours sincerely

Gemma Forman

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Samantha Freeman was employed by West Kington Stud from March 1995 until October 1996 as head girl.

The business included a large competition yard comprised of horses from Advanced three day eventers to novice eventers. There was a small livery yard of eventers owned by professional people who rode and competed at weekends. Also in 1995, the breeding enterprise was started.

Samantha's responsibilities were to ensure that the yards ran smoothly and efficiently. With many top class eventers in training the attention to detail was critical, both in their day to day welfare and long term plans. Sam liased with the owner (and trainer) of the business Jane Holderness-Roddam and chief rider Darrell Scaife to ensure that the horses were receiving the correct attention.

Samantha was also responsible for liasing closely with the livery owners to ensure that their horses were prepared according to their wishes. Samantha also was a great support in establishing the Stud breeding enterprise which now is of international renown. Samantha looked after the resident thoroughbred stallion and also was responsible to the stud manager for managing the youngstock. Samantha had to deal with difficult young horses, which she did with great sense. Samantha always showed good judgement in potentially dangerous situations, not only for her safety but the safety of others and of course the horse.

Samantha helped to create a happy and efficient working atmosphere. Both other staff and horses were looked after to a high standard and never were short cuts taken. Sam was extremely trustworthy and honest and always worked in a professional manner.

We were very sad that Sam had to return home to be nearer her parents. She was greatly missed by us and the livery owners. Sam was a very important member of our team and greatly contributed to the improvements of our business.

To Whom it may concern

Sam Freeman has spent 2 seasons with us at Church Farm, with the winter inbetween spent furthering her experience in America.

She started as Assistant Head Girl in our busy competition yard and also helped us to set up the West Kington Stud in its first season.

The yard consists of approximately 25 stabled horses and approximately 30 mares, foals and growing youngstock out on 500 acres of grass and farmland.

Sam became Head Girl in 1996 and supervised the day to day running of the yard. She organised the handling of mares and foals, sending horses off to competitions, handling clients as well as riding 2-3 horses a day.

Sam was always cheerful, neat and tidy in her work and kept the yard well. She handled the staff effectively and was a very popular person both with clients and those she worked with on the yard.

We are very sorry to see Sam go and wish her every success for the future.

To Whom it may concern:

Sam Freeman has worked for me for the past six months in the capacity of Head Groom in my small three-day event yard. I found Sam to be completely reliable, thorough and conscientous, a very hard worker and would recommend her highly. I feel confident that she could easily handle a job with a lot more responsibilities.

Sam knows how to turn out horses to a high standard and her horses always look well. She is able to organise her work well, and is completely reliable administering medications, feed supplements etc. She is a good horsewoman, able to recognise when something is wrong and take the appropriate actions. She is also a quiet and capable rider.

Sam is a pleasure to have in the yard, and I feel would be a first class addition to any establishment. We will miss her, and would welcome her back any time.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

RE: Samantha Freeman

Samantha Freeman was in my employ from 1992 to December 1994. In that time she was responsible for all aspects of taking care of my International Dressage horses including their exercise.

Samantha was always a competent rider who could be trusted to exercise my horses in my abscence. She was also responsible for the training of our young horses which she did with confidence and care. Samantha could always be relied upon to be very sensible with the care and training of these young horses.

I would have no hesitation in employing Samantha again as a safe and reliable rider to exercise my horses.

Your sincerely

Samantha Freeman has been in our employ for the past two years working as our Head Groom.

She is a delightful young woman who is dedicated to the horses and her work. She is competent in all aspects of yard work and horse management. I would recommend her as a good, sensible, quiet but positive rider.

To Whom it may concern

Miss Freeman worked for me on our yard for two years. She is confident, extremely knowledgeable and keeps a 'cool head' in a crisis. She dealt with our young horses and difficult older ones. I would not hesitate to leave her in charge of my horses and students.

Yours sincerely

To Whom it may concern

Samantha Freeman, worked at Swafield Riding Academy for the duration of the summer holidays. During that time she taught various types and standards of rider, with whom she got on very well. She also had a number of horses in her care, which she turned out to a high standard.

Sam was often left in sole charge of the yard and staff on my days off and other occasions. She was always pleasant and cheerful and got on well with the other members of staff.

During the summer she took on the re-schooling of a thoroughbred gelding who was a particularly difficult ride. She got on very well with the horse and brought his schooling up to a very good level.

I would recommend Sam for any work with horses as she is very adaptable and has a great deal of common sense.
