I am cheerful, dedicated, adaptable and patient.  I really enjoy teaching, training horses, gaining further knowledge and find it extremely rewarding to see riders and their horses improve.

Employment History

2004 To date - I am currently running my own riding school and livery yard, backing, training and producing horses and ponies in long lining, in hand, clicker training, liberty, flatwork and jumping. Attending training clinics, have gained my level two Enlightened Equitation Teacher qualification accredited by Heather Moffett, studying many aspects of classical riding, training and principles and also studying for my BTEC Professional Development Qualification. I had been regularly riding the iberian stallions at Turville Valley Stud up until December 2007 where I was then able to go back to my original Trainer, Marcia Wakeman to continue my training on my own horses. I have also been to Portugal to ride the lusitano stallions at the Stud where Bruno Rodrigues is based and have begun training and competing in the European sport, Working Equitation.

I had 15 horses in my care of which I schooled in both flatwork and jumping to assist in selling them, competed a number of the horses in affiliated showjumping, organised the yard including staff and horses workload.

I returned to Church Farm as Head Girl and supervised the day to day runing of the yard and had 25 stabled horses, 30 mares, foals and other youngstock out on 500 acres of grass and farmland in my care. Organised handling of mares and foals, sending horses off to competitions, shoeing, veterinary visits, administering medications, handling stallions, assistance with artificial insemination, exercising horses and overseeing the students.  Schooled horses both flatwork and jumping.  Assisted with fitness programmes for the competition horses. I solely looked after and exercised the resident stallion, Meadowbrook, drove two horse lorries at the yard,  took part in the Badminton Park sponsored ride and also gained my BHS Stage 4 knowledge and care.

September 1995 - March 1996 - Head Groom - Gum Tree Farm (USA) (Ms Lornie Forbes)
I worked for a duration of 5 months for an event rider,  looking after 13 horses and overseeing the yard in Pennsylvania.   I rode daily, groomed at competitions, administered medications including laser treatment  and competed.  We also travelled 4 of the horses 15 hours to South Carolina where we stayed for 1 month competing.

I had 5 horses in my immediate care one of which being the resident stallion Meadowbrook.  Groomed at many shows including: showjumping, dressage, area shows, one day events and Blenheim three day event.  Rode 3 times a day, schooling, hacking, riding, leading horses and took part in the Badminton Park sponsored ride.  I assisted Tessa Clarke who is the Stud Manager in the care of all the mares and foals, assisted with foaling and checking mares due to give birth, teasing, artificial insemination, helped to get the new stud up and running.

November 1992 - December 1994 - Head Groom -  Nominee Assurance Holdings Dressage Team (Ms Jill Day)
I looked after 13 horses, mainly Novice to Grand Prix dressage horses but also a mare and foal, yearling and other youngsters, groomed at competitions and also at Kyra Kirkland and Jennie Lorriston Clark clinics.  I became Head Groom in my second year, my role was to keep the yard and horses to an extremely high standard.   David Hunt visited the yard regularly for clinics and riders from the area would attend.  In my second year I rode one of the four year olds regularly and the Grand Prix schoolmaster.

August 1992 - November 1992 - Instructor - Swafield Riding Academy (Mr Dave Slack)
I worked for a few months to assist through the summer for the riding holiday establishment, I looked after the horses, taught and gave lectures to both clients and students.  I was often left in sole charge of the yard and took on the re-schooling of a thoroughbred gelding.

February 1992 - August 1992 - Trainee - North Herts Equestrian Centre
I carried on with my last 6 months of Youth Training progressing further with my teaching and gained my Preliminary Teaching qualification and BHS Stage 3.

I worked at Contessa for 1 1/2 years on a Youth Training scheme.  Here I gained a vast amount of teaching and lecturing experience,  rode many different types of horses,  took part in many jumping clinics, organised pony days, groomed at competitons and Arthur Kottas and John Lasseter clinics and qualified for my Assistant Grooms Diploma.
